Blending understated elegance with rich South Indian heritage, Taj Coromandel is more than just a hotel, it’s a cultural landmark. For over five decades, it has hosted presidents, dignitaries, artists, and changemakers. To contribute to such an iconic address is not just a project for us, it is a defining chapter in our journey.

Since its opening in 1974, Taj Coromandel has stood as a beacon of refined hospitality in Chennai. Named after the Coromandel Coast, the hotel reflects a design sensibility rooted in local tradition, yet elevated by international elegance.

From the subtle interplay of textures to its calm geometry and restrained palette, the property carries a spirit that is thoughtful, poised, and dignified very much like Chennai itself.

When we first stepped into space, we understood the depth of its story. This was not just another hospitality project, it was a responsibility to honour a legacy and contribute with care, craft, and context in Taj Coromandel

Our Approach: Designed for Legacy and Longevity

At Premier Carpet, we tailor every solution to suit the spirit of the space. For Taj Coromandel, we worked with a mix of Axminster and hand-tufted carpets, custom-designed to complement the architectural language and atmosphere of each area.

Some pieces were structured and resilient crafted for high-traffic public areas where business unfolds and impressions are made. Others were more intimate, designed to add softness and comfort to quiet lounges and private suites.

Every element be it thread, motif, or texture was selected with purpose. Our goal was to create carpets that not only elevated the design, but gracefully aged with the stories the hotel continues to witness.
